Tinubu Renews Appointments Of NTA, NAN Chief Executives For

President Bola Tinubu has renewed the appointments of Abdulhamid Dembos as the director-general of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Ali Mohammed Ali as the managing director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) for another three years.

The development was disclosed by the president’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement issued on Sunday.

According to the statement, the second term of both chief executives will commence on October 20, 2026, following the expiration of their initial three-year tenure.

President Tinubu first appointed Dembos and Ali to head the NTA and NAN, respectively, on October 20, 2023.

Dembos, an indigene of Yola, Adamawa State, previously served as National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU).

He also served as executive director of marketing at the NTA before retiring from the organisation in 2017.

Dembos began his career with the NTA as an announcer at its Kaduna station after completing his National Youth Service Corps programme in 1989.

He later rose through the ranks and served as general manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano at different times.

Ali, a veteran journalist and media manager with more than three decades of experience, holds a first degree in English from Bayero University, Kano, a graduate degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communications from Bayero University.

Onanuga said the president urged both chief executives to justify the confidence reposed in them by sustaining their commitment to the mandates of their respective organisations and advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The renewed appointments will keep both media executives in their respective positions for a further three-year tenure, as the administration continues to emphasise the role of the NTA and NAN in public information and national communication.
