A tragic incident has struck Thai football after 24-year-old Yala FC forward Safwan Awae reportedly died after being struck by lightning during a semi-final match in southern Thailand.
According to reports, the incident happened amid severe weather conditions, with the lightning strike hitting the pitch and affecting several players.
Safwan is said to have died instantly, while about 12 other people sustained injuries and were taken for medical attention.
