Transfer: Moises Caicedo, Joao Pedro make feelings clear about Chelsea’s new signing

Chelsea players Joao Pedro and Moises Caicedo have shared their thoughts on their former Brighton teammate Danny Welbeck following his transfer to Stamford Bridge this summer. 

Both players emphasised the remarkable attitude and impact of the 35-year-old, both on and off the field.

Welbeck signed a two-year deal with Chelsea after departing from Brighton & Hove Albion.

In an interview featured on the Blues’ official website, Pedro discussed how the ex-Manchester United forward assisted him in acclimating to life in England after his move from Watford, referring to him as a significant figure in his life.

“On a personal level, Danny is a very important person for me,” the Brazilian stated. 

“When I arrived in England, I was not fluent in English, but he consistently made an effort to be there for me, providing support and aiding my development.

“This will mark the third occasion we have played together, and I believe, just as he did for me previously, he will extend his support to everyone in the squad. Danny embodies that spirit; he is incredibly helpful and genuinely wishes the best for everyone around him and for the team.

“It is well-known that he is an exceptional player. I am eager to play alongside him once more, and I believe he will be a tremendous asset to our group.”

“When he arrived here, I embraced him because I was thrilled about his signing,” the midfielder recounted.

“As both a player and an individual, Danny is outstanding. He provided me with significant assistance when I first came to Brighton. His presence at Chelsea is reassuring. I am genuinely pleased to have him here, and he will undoubtedly be a great help to us. With his mindset, he possesses everything necessary and will be crucial for our success,” he added.

Danny Welbeck made his debut for Chelsea during their pre-season match against Juventus on Wednesday, August 5. The striker played the first half, recorded one shot and picked up a 6.7 rating (per Sofascore) as the Blues suffered a 1-0 defeat.
