Osun Election: Adeleke Camp Raises Alarm Over Alleged Security Deployment at Speaker’s Residence

The Adeleke Campaign Council has raised concerns over the alleged deployment of armed security personnel to the residence of the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, on Saturday as the state conducts its governorship election.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council alleged that more than 10 black Hilux vehicles arrived at the Speaker’s residence and that armed personnel subsequently surrounded the premises, reportedly preventing those inside from leaving.
However, the campaign council acknowledged that it could not independently establish the purpose of the deployment or confirm whether the personnel were acting in an official security capacity.
The council called on security authorities to immediately explain the reason for the reported operation, saying election-day security arrangements should not create fear or intimidation among residents.
According to the statement, attempts to reach senior police officials responsible for election security and the Police Situation Room were unsuccessful.
The Adeleke camp urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, while calling on security agencies to ensure that voters are allowed to freely participate in the electoral process without intimidation or interference.
The allegation had not, in the report provided, been independently confirmed by the security authorities.
