FIFA has unveiled the full match schedule for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil, confirming the dates and venues for all 64 matches across eight host cities.

Key Highlights:

  • The 2027 Women’s World Cup will feature 64 matches across 8 Brazilian cities.
  • Brazil will open the tournament at the Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro on June 24.
  • The semi-finals and final will be held in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
  • FIFA says the schedule considers fairness, travel and player recovery.
  • The final draw will take place later this year, followed by an updated schedule.

The schedule was announced on Thursday, at the Home of FIFA in Zurich, Switzerland, during the live draw for the preliminary phase of the Women’s World Cup 2027 Play-Off Tournament.

Hosts Brazil will begin their campaign at the iconic Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday, June 24, before facing their remaining group-stage opponents at Arena Itaquera in São Paulo on Tuesday, June 29, and the Estádio Nacional in Brasília on Sunday, July 4.

Each of the eight host cities will stage at least seven matches, including at least one knockout fixture.

Brasília, Porto Alegre, Recife and Salvador will host matches through the Round of 16, while Belo Horizonte and Fortaleza will join Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo as quarter-final venues.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the tournament would provide an opportunity to showcase the continued growth of women’s football while giving fans and communities across Brazil a central role in the global event.

“We can’t wait to witness a new chapter of women’s football history unfold when the world’s best players, coaches, fans and local communities take centre stage in Brazil next year,” Infantino said.

The schedule is designed to build towards the final in Rio de Janeiro, with São Paulo set to host one semi-final and the bronze-medal match.

The other semi-final and the final will be played at the Maracanã, while FIFA Fan Festivals will take place in the host cities to give supporters opportunities to follow the tournament beyond the stadiums.

FIFA’s Chief Women’s Football Officer, Dame Sarai Bareman, said the schedule was developed with sporting fairness and the overall experience of supporters in mind, taking into account travel distances, recovery periods and the competition experience of all 32 teams.

She added that FIFA wanted fans across Brazil to participate fully in the tournament and for every host city to play a significant role in the event.

The Maracanã will make history by becoming only the third stadium to host both a men’s FIFA World Cup final and a Women’s World Cup final.

It joins the former Råsunda Stadium in Solna, Sweden, and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, United States, which hosted the respective men’s and women’s finals in previous editions.

Aline Pellegrino, former captain of Brazil’s women’s national team and executive director of Legacy and Stakeholder Affairs for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, said hosting the tournament was a source of immense pride for the country.

She said each host city would bring its own character to the competition and help create an atmosphere capable of inspiring the next generation of players.

The release of the schedule allows supporters to begin planning their trips to Brazil, while host cities, government authorities and other stakeholders continue preparations for the tournament.

FIFA said an updated version of the schedule would be released after the final draw, which is scheduled to take place later this year.
