The Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command, has announced a record-breaking daily revenue collection of N28.10bn, marking the highest amount generated by the command in a single day.

The command said the revenue was collected within 24 hours on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, surpassing its previous daily record of N20.1bn recorded in September 2025.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Isah Sulaiman, a Chief Superintendent of Customs.

According to Sulaiman, the latest performance represents another major milestone for the Apapa Command and reflects improvements in compliance, trade facilitation and customs operations.

The statement said the command’s previous daily collection record was achieved shortly after Emmanuel Oshoba assumed office as the Customs Area Controller.

The new record comes only weeks after the Apapa Command reported monthly revenue of N323bn in July 2026, which the service described as an unprecedented monthly collection for the command.

Customs attributed the latest performance to reforms introduced within the service, improved compliance by traders, intelligence-led interventions and greater use of digital processes.

Oshoba: Record is More Than a Revenue Figure

Reacting to the development, Oshoba said the achievement should not be viewed solely as a revenue milestone but also in terms of its potential contribution to the Nigerian economy.

He explained that revenue collected by the Nigeria Customs Service contributes to government resources used to finance critical sectors, including infrastructure, security, education and healthcare.

The Customs Area Controller commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the management of the service for supporting reforms focused on automation, modernisation, transparency and improved efficiency.

Oshoba dedicated the latest revenue record to the Federal Government and Nigerians.

He also praised compliant importers, exporters, licensed customs agents and other stakeholders for their cooperation, while acknowledging Nigerians who have provided information to the service to support its operations.

Oshoba urged officers and men of the Apapa Command not to become complacent following the record collection.

He said the achievement should instead serve as motivation for personnel to improve their performance while ensuring that revenue generation does not come at the expense of legitimate businesses.

According to him, customs operations must continue to balance revenue collection with trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders.

He directed officers to address legitimate disputes promptly and ensure that customs procedures do not create unnecessary obstacles for compliant businesses.

Oshoba said the command would continue working to strengthen revenue generation while improving trade facilitation and cooperation with stakeholders.

He maintained that every legitimate naira collected by the service strengthens the government’s ability to fund development priorities and provide essential services to Nigerians.

The Apapa Command’s latest performance comes amid the Federal Government’s broader efforts to increase revenue mobilisation, improve customs efficiency and facilitate legitimate trade through digitalisation and enhanced compliance.
