Turkey: ‘It’ll be difficult to break’ – Bursaspor reacts to Iheanacho’s record

Bursaspor head coach, Mustafa Er, has spoken about Kelechi Iheanacho’s record at the club, saying the player’s achievements will be difficult to beat.
The Nigeria international recently created history in Turkish football by scoring across consecutive league matches.
Iheanacho scored the opening goal in Bursaspor’s 3-0 triumph against Muğlaspor on October 15, thereby becoming the first player in Turkish football to score in ten consecutive matches.
By so doing, he surpassed the consecutive scoring accomplishments of two legends, Galatasaray legend Metin Oktay and former Turkish national team representative Saffet Sancaklı.
Oktay achieved nine consecutive Süper Lig scoring performances for Galatasaray throughout the 1962–63 campaign, followed by Sancaklı who replicated the accomplishment with Kocaelispor during the 1995–96 season.
In reaction to Iheanacho’s record, Er acknowledged the considerable challenge inherent in establishing such a record and conveyed his aspiration that the former Manchester City player would continue his scoring sequence.
According to Bursasporx, he stated, “This represents an exceptionally challenging record to surpass. Our objective is for him to prolong this sequence even further.
“He demonstrates exceptional contentment, maintains excellent interpersonal connections, and demonstrates remarkable dedication to his work.”
Er emphasized that attributing Iheanacho’s accomplishment exclusively to a single individual would constitute an injustice to the organization.
“To evaluate this achievement solely through the lens of Iheanacho would represent an injustice to both the squad and the club. The significance of his teammates’ contributions cannot be disregarded.
“I extend my commendations to our administrative personnel for recruiting a player of Premier League caliber to the club and appropriately managing his psychological well-being.”
Iheanacho aspires to advance his consecutive scoring sequence to eleven consecutive performances on Monday evening when Bursaspor competes against Pendikspor in the Turkish First League
