Insurgency: Troops neutralise 15 terrorists in Borno

The Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI, OPHK, has neutralised 15 terrorists in a precision air strike in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State
The operation was conducted at about 11:50 p.m. on 23 October 2026, following credible intelligence and confirmed sightings of terrorist movements in the general area of Pulka.
Captain Mohammed Goni, acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Maiduguri, in a statement said the precision strike was subsequently followed by ground operations to exploit the area and consolidate the operational gains.
“The successful engagement highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-driven targeting and coordinated military action in disrupting terrorist movements and degrading their operational capabilities,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the operation forms part of the sustained offensive against insurgents, supported by effective intelligence gathering and coordinated employment of available military capabilities.
It said the theatre command continues to maintain pressure on terrorist elements, disrupting their activities and strengthening the security environment across the North East.
“Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute in its mission to defeat terrorism and insurgency, protect law-abiding citizens and create the conditions necessary for the restoration of normalcy and socio-economic activities in affected communities. The theatre command reassures the public that troops will sustain the momentum of ongoing operations with vigilance, determination and professionalism.
“The theatre command also calls on members of the public to sustain their cooperation with security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious movements and activities. The continued partnership between the military and the civilian population remains essential to consolidating operational gains and achieving lasting peace and security across the North East,” the statement added.
