Gov Namadi promises improved welfare, renovation of Jigawa NYSC camp

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has promised to improve the welfare of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state through increased allowances and renovation of the orientation camp.
The governor made the promise while addressing Batch C corps members at the Yakubu Gowon NYSC Orientation Camp in Fanisau, Dutse.
Namadi said his administration would review the N5,000 monthly allowance currently paid to corps members to cushion the effects of rising inflation and the high cost of living.
He acknowledged the contributions of corps members to the development of the state, particularly in communities where they provide essential services.
”We are aware of your contributions in our communities, therefore, we will look and review your monthly allowance to help you manage the recent inflation,” he said.
The governor also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for increasing the federal monthly allowance of corps members to N77,000, saying Jigawa would follow the Federal Government’s example.
”On our part also, we will follow the footsteps of the Federal Government to review and increase your monthly state allowances,” he stated.
As part of efforts to support the newly deployed corps members, Namadi announced a N10,000 settling-in allowance for each of them after completing the three-week orientation exercise.
”We will also give each of you N10,000 so that when you are posted to your various places of primary assignment, you will have something in your pocket,” he said.
The governor promised to renovate the Yakubu Gowon NYSC Orientation Camp, construct a new hall and provide a standby generator to ensure a steady electricity supply at the facility.
He also urged employers, particularly government ministries, departments and agencies, to make arrangements to transport corps members from the orientation camp to their respective places of primary assignment.
”I urge all employers to ensure they are here on the day of your passing out to convey their corps members to their various ministries, departments and agencies,” he said.
Namadi further assured the corps members of a peaceful and welcoming environment throughout their service year, urging them to integrate with their host communities.
”Jigawa is a very peaceful state and our people are hospitable. Try and assimilate yourselves into your host communities,” the governor added.
He congratulated the corps members on their deployment to Jigawa and wished them a successful service year.
