Baba Ijesha Reveals Prophecy About His Imprisonment

Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha has recounted a prophecy he received before his imprisonment, claiming he was told that he would become a great man after experiencing a major calamity that would cause him to shed tears.
The actor shared the experience during a courtesy visit to Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho at his residence, where he spoke about the revelation he received before his legal troubles.
According to Baba Ijesha, the prophecy indicated that he would eventually attain greatness, but only after going through a painful experience that would bring him significant emotional distress.
He said he now relates the prediction to the period he spent in prison, which followed his conviction in a child sexual abuse case.
Recounting the prophecy, the actor said: “Before I went to prison, someone saw a revelation about me that I’ll be a great man but a huge calamity will befall me that’ll make me shed lots of tears before the prophesy will eventually come to pass. It was after then I went to prison.”
His comments come months after his release from prison in November 2025, following the completion of his jail term.
Baba Ijesha was convicted by the Lagos State High Court on July 14, 2022, over offences involving the foster daughter of comedian Damilola Adekoya, popularly known as Princess.
The court sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment for sexual assault and three years for indecent treatment of a child. The sentences were ordered to run concurrently, meaning he was required to serve them at the same time.
His conviction and imprisonment attracted widespread public attention, generating reactions across the entertainment industry and among Nigerians.
The actor’s latest revelation has brought renewed attention to his experience, as he reflects on the prophecy he said he received before his imprisonment and its connection to the difficult period he subsequently faced.
However, Baba Ijesha’s statement about becoming a great man remains his account of the prophecy, and he has not provided further details about what he believes the predicted greatness will entail.
