2027: Sowore Demands ₦500,000 Minimum Wage for INEC Staff

African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has called for a ₦500,000 minimum wage for staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Sowore argued that improved remuneration for electoral officers would help strengthen the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral process and contribute to the conduct of more credible elections.

He made the call while discussing measures he believes could improve the working conditions of INEC personnel ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Sowore, better pay for electoral officials could help address some of the challenges affecting the credibility of elections.

His proposal comes as political parties and presidential aspirants intensify discussions around electoral reforms and preparations for the 2027 elections.
