The Zamfara State Government and the United Nations have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership to accelerate sustainable development and improve the well-being of residents.
The commitment was made during a high-level strategic engagement on the Zamfara–United Nations partnership held on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, at the United Nations House in Abuja.
The Zamfara delegation was led by the Commissioner for Finance, Muhammad Bello Auta, while the UN delegation was headed by the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Muhammed M. M. Fall, who presided over the meeting on behalf of the Assistant Secretary-General.
The engagement followed the April 2026 visit to Zamfara by UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed and provided an opportunity for both sides to explore ways of developing a more coordinated and sustainable partnership around the state’s development priorities.
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the state government and the UN to support development initiatives and improve the quality of life of Zamfara residents.
The meeting also underscored Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration’s commitment to strategic governance, effective partnerships and sustainable development as it pursues programmes aimed at transforming the state.
Members of the Zamfara delegation included the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Professor Yahaya Zakari; the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Abdul’aziz Sani, SAN; the Permanent Secretary, Multilateral and Donor Agencies, Saadatu Abdu Gusau; as well as directors and other officials from relevant ministries, departments and agencies.
