UCL: Barcelona Thrash Feyenoord 5-1 As Demirovic Hits Hat-Trick For Stuttgart

Barcelona made a statement on their return to Champions League action, cruising to a 5-1 victory over Feyenoord in their opening league-phase fixture, while Stuttgart also began their campaign with a convincing 3-1 win over Viking.

Raphinha set Barcelona on their way after just three minutes, producing a composed left-footed finish after beating two Feyenoord defenders. The Brazilian doubled his tally in the 57th minute after being played through by Pedri.

Karim Adeyemi had earlier put Barcelona two goals ahead in the 22nd minute with a curling effort, giving Hansi Flick’s side complete control of the contest.

Lamine Yamal added Barcelona’s fourth in the 77th minute, sending a free-kick through a gap in the Feyenoord wall from the edge of the box.

Feyenoord pulled one back through Sem Steijn in the 82nd minute, but Barcelona restored their four-goal advantage almost immediately. Gabriel Jesus, making his home debut for the Catalan giants, scored with his first touch after coming off the bench.

The result means Barcelona began their European campaign in emphatic fashion, with Raphinha particularly impressive after taking his season tally to eight goals in five matches.

In the other 6:45pm Champions League fixture played alongside the Barcelona game, VfB Stuttgart defeated Norwegian side Viking 3-1, with Ermedin Demirovic producing the outstanding individual performance.

Demirovic opened the scoring after 20 minutes, but Viking responded just two minutes later through Zlatko Tripic, who finished a quick counter-attack to make it 1-1.

The German side regained the lead in the 26th minute when Demirovic struck again before completing his hat-trick six minutes later with a superb hooked volley.

The Bosnian striker’s three goals came within just 12 minutes and effectively settled the contest before half-time. Stuttgart controlled the second half to secure all three points, while Viking were unable to find a way back into the game.

Both Barcelona and Stuttgart therefore started the new Champions League campaign with three points, with Demirovic’s hat-trick and Raphinha’s brace providing the early individual highlights of Wednesday’s action. UEFA lists Barcelona-Feyenoord and Stuttgart-Viking among the opening Matchday 1 fixtures of the 2026/27 league phase.
