Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have foiled a terrorist attack in Sokoto State, rescued two kidnapped victims and arrested a suspected illicit drug peddler during separate operations in Sokoto and Kaduna states.
The operations were conducted on September 12 and 13, 2026, by troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma.
In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1 intercepted a suspected drug peddler, identified as Yohana Musa, during a stop-and-search operation along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road on September 12.
Musa was allegedly found in possession of a large quantity of illicit drugs and substances while travelling towards Birnin Gwari.
The suspect and the recovered items have been kept in military custody for further investigation.
In Sokoto State, troops of Sector 2 responded to a distress call following a terrorist attack at Unguwan Lalle in Sabon Birni Local Government Area on September 13.

The troops engaged the terrorists with firepower, forcing them to withdraw in disarray and rescuing two kidnapped victims during the operation.
Acting on intelligence about an attempt by the terrorists to regroup, the troops swiftly mobilised to the area and re-established contact with the group.
A fierce gun battle followed, forcing the terrorists to withdraw again.
During the subsequent exploitation of the area, troops recovered 157 rounds of PKT ammunition, phone batteries and other items believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
The Theatre Commander commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism, saying the military remained committed to denying terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
The military also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces to support ongoing operations.
