Nollywood Actress Atinuke Kareem Dies After Battle With Beast

Nollywood actress Atinuke Remilekun Kareem, popularly known as Atinuke Kareem, has died after months of battling breast cancer. Her death was announced on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, by the President of the Ogun State chapter of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Owolabi Ajasa.

Ajasa announced the death in a statement shared on his Instagram page, while appreciating individuals who supported the actress during her treatment.
He said the association and her supporters had made efforts to assist Kareem financially and through prayers and other forms of support.
“We sincerely appreciate everyone who contributed financially, offered prayers, encouragement, and support towards the treatment of our dear colleague, Atinuke Remilekun Kareem.

“Sadly, despite all our efforts and prayers, Atinuke has passed on and answered the final call.
“We cannot question the Almighty God. We can only submit to His will and pray that He grants her eternal rest and gives her family, colleagues, and loved ones the strength to bear this painful loss,” Ajasa said.
Kareem had reportedly been undergoing treatment for breast cancer before her death.
Her passing has thrown members of the Yoruba movie industry and other Nollywood colleagues into mourning, with tributes expected from fans, friends and fellow actors.
Atinuke Kareem’s death adds to a series of losses that have affected Nigeria’s entertainment industry in recent years, with colleagues and fans remembering her contributions to Yoruba-language cinema.
