Ogun Kidnap Drama: 10 passengers freed, suspect killed

The victims were kidnapped on November 3 while travelling in a commercial bus around Orita Fufu, Awa-Ijebu, in Ijebu North-East Local Government Area.
They were released unharmed at about 8.30pm on Saturday, November 7, after sustained security operations and intelligence gathering by the police.
The Ogun State Police Command said its Anti-Kidnapping Unit subsequently raided the gang’s hideout along the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road at about 1am on Sunday.
A gunfight broke out during the operation, leaving one suspect dead, while other gang members escaped with suspected gunshot injuries.
Police spokesman, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said operatives recovered an AK-47 rifle, 20 rounds of ammunition, N1,376,800 in cash and a mobile phone from the hideout.
He said efforts were underway to arrest the fleeing suspects, urging residents to report anyone with suspicious gunshot wounds to the nearest police station.
