Man Admits To Drugging, Sexually Assaulting Wife Over 20-year Period

A man in his 60s accused of drugging and sexually abusing his wife without her knowledge for about two decades has admitted 60 offences against her.

The man, who cannot be named to protect his wife’s legal anonymity, entered guilty pleas to dozens of charges at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.

According to BBC, the offences include multiple counts of rape, assault by penetration and administering a substance with intent.

The court heard that the man’s offending against his wife, whom he had been married to for decades, dated back to 2004.

The woman was present in the public gallery during the proceedings and was supported by members of her family.

The defendant became visibly emotional as he repeatedly said “guilty” while the charges were read out.

At one point, the judge invited him to sit down in the dock.

He had previously admitted some of the offences, including rape, and will be sentenced for the charges he has pleaded guilty to after the conclusion of the ongoing trial.

Meanwhile, 12 other men are standing trial over alleged serious sexual offences against the same woman.

The allegations against the other defendants are said to cover a period between September 2018 and November 2025.

A 13th man had previously pleaded guilty to sexual offences against the woman.

The 12 men currently denying the allegations are Philip Wild, 58, Sean Peers, 38, Jordan Wallace, 31, Alan Keelan, 42, Jonathan Kirk, 43, Robert Stewart, 70, Mohammed Sabir, 28, Graham Brougham, 74, Richard Townsend, 37, Karl Lindsay, 55, Daniel Rayner, 42, and David Graves, 59.

The defendants are from various parts of Greater Manchester and other parts of England.

The trial is expected to continue in the coming weeks.
