JAMB, WAEC Introduce One-Time ₦4,000 O’Level Result

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have introduced a new policy allowing candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions to verify their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) O’Level results once through JAMB.

Under the new arrangement, candidates will no longer be required to repeatedly verify their WAEC results at individual institutions during the admission process.

The two examination and admission bodies announced the policy in a joint statement, saying it was the outcome of a series of meetings and consultations aimed at reducing the burden on candidates and simplifying the admission process while safeguarding the integrity of academic records.

According to the statement, candidates whose admissions are regulated and coordinated by JAMB will be required to verify their WAEC results only once through the board.

The outcome of the verification will subsequently be made available to the tertiary institution where the candidate is seeking admission.

“Candidates are to pay N4,000 only, once, for the verification of their WASSCE O’Level results on the specified platform and not through their desired institutions,” the statement said.

JAMB and WAEC said institutions would be required to use the verified results provided by JAMB for screening, admission processing and other administrative purposes.

They added that candidates who had completed the verification through the approved platform would not be required to pay for or undergo another verification exercise.

WAEC, the statement said, had also agreed to allow JAMB to share the outcome of the verification with relevant tertiary institutions for screening, admission processing and other approved administrative purposes.

The new arrangement is expected to eliminate repeated visits by candidates to tertiary institutions or JAMB-approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for the verification of their O’Level results.
Candidates can now initiate the verification process from the comfort of their homes or any location with internet access.

JAMB and WAEC therefore urged candidates to take advantage of the new system by verifying their WASSCE O’Level results once through the JAMB-provisioned verification service.

The bodies said the collaboration was aimed at putting the interests of candidates first by reducing unnecessary costs and simplifying the admission process while ensuring the integrity and security of academic records.
