JAMB, WAEC Fix ₦4,000 One-Time Fee for O’Level Result Verification » Apples Bite Int’l Magazine

Candidates seeking admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics and other tertiary institutions will now pay a one-time fee of ₦4,000 to verify their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) O’Level results.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced the new arrangement in a joint statement issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Under the new system, candidates whose admissions are processed through JAMB will verify their WAEC results directly on the JAMB platform.

After verification, the authenticated results will be transmitted to the tertiary institutions where the candidates are seeking admission for screening and other admission-related processes.

The two examination bodies clarified that the ₦4,000 payment is a one-time charge and does not apply separately to each institution a candidate applies to.

JAMB and WAEC also directed tertiary institutions to accept and use the verified results forwarded through JAMB for admission screening, processing and other administrative purposes.

The bodies warned that candidates should not be asked to pay another fee for verification of the same result.

The statement said: “Tertiary institutions are to utilise the verified results shared by JAMB for screening, processing candidate admission and other administrative purposes. Candidates shall not be required to pay for another verification.”

The new verification system, recently introduced by JAMB, allows candidates to upload and authenticate their O’Level results remotely from any location with internet access.

The initiative is expected to simplify the admission process and reduce the need for candidates to undergo repeated result verification at different institutions.
