Foster Kurotimi Alu Declares for Southern Ijaw Ward 13 Councillorship, Unveils ‘Divine Mandate 2026’

OPUAMA, BAYELSA STATE — Comrade Foster Kurotimi Alu has declared his intention to contest the councillorship seat of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area Ward 13, Opuama Kingdom, ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in Bayelsa State.

Alu made his declaration following consultations with political leaders, critical stakeholders, youth leaders, traditional authorities, family members, friends and other residents of Opuama Kingdom.

The aspirant said his decision was motivated by his desire to provide effective representation and contribute to the development of the people of Opuama.

He unveiled his political vision, tagged “Divine Mandate 2026,” with a Five-in-One Point Agenda of Strategic Inclusive Engagement, which he said would focus on education, empowerment, entertainment, representation and youth development.

Under the education pillar, Alu said he would promote sensitisation and awareness programmes and facilitate scholarship opportunities for students within the ward.

On empowerment, he promised to support skills acquisition programmes and provide targeted assistance, grants and incentives for young entrepreneurs and small and medium-scale businesses.

He also listed entertainment and sports as part of his agenda, saying periodic sporting and social activities would be organised to positively engage youths and promote unity within the community.

Alu further pledged to use the councillorship position as a platform to give the people of Ward 13 a stronger voice in the local government.

“I will not be a sit-and-look representative but will use the office in bringing meaningful and sustainable development to our people,” he stated.

The aspirant also identified the development of a befitting Opuama Federated Youth Council Secretariat as another priority, promising to work with the council chairman and relevant government agencies towards achieving the project.

Alu, who described himself as an active and consistent participant in youth and political activities within the ward, LGA and beyond, said his experience as a former Territorial Youth President of Opuama Kingdom had given him an understanding of the challenges facing the people.

He appealed to the people of Opuama Kingdom to support his aspiration, promising to give his best if elected.

“I may not be the best, but with your mandate, I will give my best to ensure we have a voice in the local government,” he said.

He also commended traditional rulers, political stakeholders, youth leaders, elders and residents across the fourteen communities of Opuama Kingdom for their efforts towards sustaining the unity and development of the kingdom.

Alu called for unity and collective support as the kingdom prepares for the forthcoming councillorship election.
