Police Alert Nigerians Over Planned Attacks On Schools, Churches, NYSC Camps » Apples Bite Int’l Magazine

The Nigeria Police Force has issued a nationwide security alert over intelligence suggesting that terrorists may be planning coordinated attacks on schools, places of worship, NYSC orientation camps and other vulnerable locations.

The warning was contained in a wireless message issued by the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on September 13, 2026. The message was marked “Security General” and classified as “Treat as Very Important.”

According to the police, intelligence reports indicate increased mobilisation of terrorist groups for possible coordinated attacks. The North-East, North-West and North-Central regions, as well as parts of the South-West, were identified as areas requiring heightened vigilance.

The police also reported the movement of armed individuals from Katsina through Kaduna towards Plateau State.

Schools were identified as a particular concern, with the police warning that terrorists could exploit the resumption of the 2026/2027 academic session, when large numbers of students and staff would be present, to cause mass casualties.

The intelligence assessment also indicated that attacks could be planned ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the aim of creating fear, disrupting communities and causing instability.

In response, police commands across the country were directed to strengthen security around schools, places of worship, NYSC camps and other vulnerable locations.

Commanders were ordered to increase intelligence gathering, surveillance, patrols, stop-and-search operations, access control and rapid-response measures. Security was also to be reinforced along state borders, entry and exit routes and other strategic corridors.

The police further directed their commands to work closely with other security agencies, religious leaders, school authorities and NYSC management to improve information sharing and establish stronger early-warning systems.

The Force urged members of the public and security personnel to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons, vehicles, movements or objects through the appropriate security channels.

The police also ordered that credible threats and security incidents be reported immediately to the Inspector-General of Police and the Department of Operations.
