Five Islamic Clerics Abducted After Prayer Meeting At Yari’s Zamfara Residence » Apples Bite Int’l Magazine

Five Islamic clerics have reportedly been abducted after attending a special prayer gathering at the residence of Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, a former Zamfara State governor and Director-General of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 campaign, in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident was reportedly disclosed on Saturday evening by a Northwest-based crisis reporter, Bakatsine, through a post on X.
Among those said to have been abducted are Imam Yahuza, the First Jumma’at Imam in Dogon Madacci; Magawata Abdullahi, the Second Jumma’at Imam in Dogon Madacci; Malam Shehu Dakko; Imam Bala Fagon; and Na’ibi Tasi’u of Tungar Nagudai.
According to the report, more than 2,000 Islamic scholars and imams had gathered at Yari’s residence for special prayers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The clerics reportedly travelled from communities in Bakura and Talata Mafara Local Government Areas to participate in the prayer session, which was organised to pray for peace, national unity and the success of President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the elections.
Bakatsine described the reported abduction as disturbing, noting that it occurred at the residence of a prominent political figure.
He said the incident further demonstrated the worsening security situation in Zamfara State, where bandit attacks and kidnappings have continued to affect residents.
He questioned how ordinary citizens could feel safe if people could allegedly be abducted while attending a gathering at the residence of a prominent political figure.
As of the time of filing the report, the Zamfara State Police Command and other security agencies had not publicly commented on the reported abductions.
