“People in UK prisons are living better than 90% of Nigerians who are free” — Man says, cites Poco Lee’s release

A man has sparked discussion after comparing prison conditions in the United Kingdom, United States and other developed countries with those in Nigeria.
Speaking about the recent release of Nigerian dancer and singer Poco Lee from a UK prison, he said some people questioned whether Poco Lee had actually been incarcerated because he did not appear physically affected by his time in prison.
According to him, prison conditions in countries such as the UK, US and Canada are significantly different from what obtains in Nigeria, with inmates having access to basic amenities such as electricity, water, food and medical care.
He claimed that he had visited both UK and Nigerian prisons and argued that many Nigerians living outside prison would prefer the conditions in a UK prison to their current living conditions.
He further stated that prisoners in developed countries have legal protections and that prison officers are trained to safeguard inmates’ rights.
The man said …
“When Poco Lee was released from UK prison, a lot of people were saying that, oh, he never went to prison, that he doesn’t look it. One thing you need to understand is that people that are in the prison in US, UK, Canada, and all these first-world countries, they’re living better life than 90% of persons that are free in Nigeria.
“They have access to electricity, water, good food, proper medical care. I’ve been to UK prison and Nigerian prison. I can tell you a lot of you walking around in Nigeria would rather be in UK prison.
“Even in the prison, your rights are protected. The prison warders are trained to protect you…”
