BREAKING NEWS: TOP NIGERIAN POLITICIAN PASSES AWAY

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and close ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Chief Osi Daniel Orbih, popularly known as Dan Orbih, has died.

Orbih reportedly died on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the age of 64.

His death was announced by his family in a statement signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, Esq.

The family expressed sadness over his passing, describing it as a painful loss.

“With profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the Almighty God,” the family said in the statement.

The late politician is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih; his children, Ms Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih; as well as his brothers, sisters and other members of the extended family.

The family called on friends, relatives and well-wishers to remember them in their prayers during the period of mourning.

“At this difficult time, we ask family members, friends and well-wishers to remember the entire family in their prayers as we mourn this painful loss,” the statement added.

Born on October 27, 1961, in Ogbona, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, Dan Orbih was a prominent figure in the PDP.

He served as the National Vice-Chairman of the PDP for the South-South region and was also the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Edo State-owned Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.

Orbih was widely known as a major political figure in Edo State and a close associate of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Details surrounding his death were not immediately disclosed.
