A trader at the Mallam Atta Market has made an emotional appeal to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to intervene as concerns grow over plans to demolish the market.
According to the trader, the market serves as the main source of livelihood for many women who depend on their daily sales to support their families.
“This is where we sell to make money and take care of our children. Now, the government wants to demolish the market. Bawumia, please come and intervene for us. Mahama is killing us,” she said.
The trader’s comments come amid growing anxiety among some market women who fear losing their businesses if the demolition exercise goes ahead.
Several affected traders have been calling for authorities to engage them and provide alternative arrangements before any action is taken.
