Senate President Godswill Akpabio has asked the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate an alleged anti-North statement attributed to him and circulated on social media.
The petition according to a report by TheCable was written on behalf of the Senate President by his Chief of Staff, Chinedu Akubueze.
Akpabio according to TheCablle is seeking to establish the origin and authenticity of the statement, which has been circulating online and purportedly linked to him.
The Senate President’s move comes amid heightened political activities and growing tensions over regional interests ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He has asked the DSS to investigate the matter and take appropriate action if those responsible for creating or circulating the statement are identified.
