Yari Emerges As DG, Uzodimma Named Secretary Of APC

Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator, Abdulaziz Yari, has been appointed director-general of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 presidential election.
Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, was also appointed secretary of the campaign council.
President Bola Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be the vice chairman.
The APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, was named another vice chairman of the council. The appointments were announced on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to Onanuga, APC National Secretary, Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as deputy secretary and assistant secretary, respectively.
The council will have a body of advisers comprising former APC National Chairman, Bisi Akande; former Ogun State Governor, Segun Osoba; former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni were appointed deputy director-generals for the southern and northern parts of the country.
They will work with Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Senate President Jibril Barau in the two zones.
Former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, was appointed deputy director-general in charge of mobilisation, while President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will oversee administration.
James Faleke, who played a key role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, was reappointed deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.
Faleke will work with zonal directors, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
Onanuga said Stella Okotete, Abdullahi Ramat and Audu Maikori would serve as secretaries of the election planning directorate.
Muiz Adeyemi Banire was appointed director of the legal directorate, with Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies.

The legal team also includes Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi; former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema; Worgu Boms and Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.
For media and strategic communication, Information and National Orientation Minister, Mohammed Idris will serve as coordinating director, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka were appointed coordinating deputy directors in the media directorate.
Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Aderonke Arabinrin and Frederick Nwabufor were named coordinating secretaries.
Segun Dada will head the New Media Directorate, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as its secretary.
The APC also appointed five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
President Tinubu charged members of the campaign council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 presidential election.
He urged the directorates to reach out to other party members who were not formally listed but could contribute to the campaign.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” Tinubu said.
He added that the APC had “many achievements to trumpet” as the campaign season approaches and urged party members to showcase the administration’s record to Nigerians.
