Nigeria Storm Into African Beach Volleyball Final, Close In On

Nigeria’s women’s beach volleyball team have reached the final of the 2026 African Beach Volleyball Championship after defeating Mozambique 2-0 in a commanding semifinal at Abu Heif Beach in Alexandria, Egypt.
The Nigerian pair dominated the contest from the opening serve Saturday, taking the first set 21-17 before producing another composed performance to win the second set by the same scoreline.
The straight-sets victory sends Nigeria into the championship final, where they will face the winner of the second semifinal between hosts Egypt and Morocco.
Beyond the continental title, the final carries enormous significance, with the coveted qualification ticket to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games at stake.

Victory in the decisive encounter would give Nigeria a major boost in their quest to return to the Olympic stage, making the final much more than a battle for African supremacy.
The championship is being held at Abu Heif Beach in Alexandria under the patronage of Alexandria Governor, Ayman Atiya, in coordination with the Egyptian Volleyball Federation. Aida Ismail is chairing the Supreme Organizing Committee.
African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) President Bouchra Hajij is also in Alexandria, where she has been monitoring the matches and overseeing the organizational aspects of the continental championship.
With Nigeria already through to the final, attention now shifts to the Egypt-Morocco semifinal, which will determine the team standing between the Nigerians and both the African crown and the prized LA28 Olympic qualification ticket.
