Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Ibrahim Gusau, has inaugurated a six-member fact-finding panel to probe the country’s recent setbacks in international football, particularly the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Gusau inaugurated the committee on Monday, and charged its members to approach the assignment with sincerity, diligence and a strong sense of national responsibility.

The committee was constituted after the Super Falcons’ unexpected failure to secure qualification for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The NFF said the panel would examine both the immediate and underlying factors responsible for the poor performances of Nigeria’s national teams in recent international competitions.

He gave the panel two weeks to complete its probe and submit its report, expressing confidence that its members would provide practical solutions to the challenges confronting Nigerian football.

The committee is chaired by Fanny Amun, who pledged that the panel would conduct a comprehensive and impartial investigation.

Amun said the committee would engage stakeholders and individuals connected to the issues under investigation, while also receiving memoranda from members of the public.

He described the assignment as an important national responsibility and promised that the committee would be thorough, truthful and diligent in carrying out its mandate.

Members of the committee include former Super Falcons captain, Oparanozie; former Super Eagles captain, Mutiu Adepoju; former Nigeria U-20 strategist and President of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Ladan Bosso; and former FIFA referee, Alex Mana.

Former Nigeria international and Deputy Director in the NFF Technical Department, Nasiru Jibril, will serves as secretary.

The committee is expected to submit its findings within two weeks, with its recommendations potentially shaping measures aimed at restoring Nigeria’s fortunes across the national teams.
