The operation, which commenced on August 10, 2026, is being conducted under a dislodge-and-occupy strategy aimed at dismantling drug trafficking and abuse networks and preventing the reoccupation of identified drug hotspots.

The agency disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday by its Media and Advocacy Officer, Sadiq Maigatari.

According to the statement, the operation was carried out with coordinated raids between August 10 and 16, targeting several locations identified as hubs for illicit drug activities.

The affected areas include Filin Mahaha, Koki, Dorayi, Rijiyar Lemo, Charanchi, Kasuwar Kurmi, Zage, Gwammaja, Sauna, Wambai, Yan Ayaba, Indabawa, Bela Village, Farm Centre, Masaka and Panshekara.

The agency said its operatives recovered various illicit substances and drug-related paraphernalia, including cannabis sativa, diazepam, Exol-5, rubber solution, substances locally known as “suck and die,” cutting agents and packaging materials.

It said locally manufactured weapons and other tools allegedly used in illicit drug activities were also recovered during the operation.

The Commander, Kano Strategic Command, D.Y. Lawal, said the operation was intelligence-driven and would be sustained until the state was rid of illicit drug activities.

He urged persons still involved in drug trafficking and abuse to desist, warning that the command would continue to target drug networks across the state.

The NDLEA said the 80 suspects arrested would be processed and prosecuted in accordance with the law, while investigations would continue to uncover wider trafficking networks.

It added that dislodged locations would remain under surveillance to prevent immediate reoccupation.

The command urged residents to support the operation by providing credible and timely information on illicit drug activities.
