Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman provided an assist as Atletico Madrid rallied from a goal down to defeat Olympique Marseille 2-1 in a pre-season friendly on Friday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Marseille took an early lead through Igor Paixão, who found the net in the 22nd minute, but Atletico responded before the break when Rodrigo Mendoza levelled matters in the 39th minute with an assist from Lookman.

Carlos Martín then struck the winner in the 78th minute to complete the turnaround for the Spanish side.

Lookman’s involvement in the victory comes barely a day after Atletico confirmed that he would wear the number 11 shirt for the 2026/27 season, having worn the number 22 jersey during his first six months at the club following his January move from Italian side Atalanta.

The number 11 shirt was previously worn by Argentine midfielder Thiago Almada, who completed a switch to River Plate this summer. Lookman is no stranger to the number, having also worn it during his time in Bergamo.

The 28-year-old enjoyed an impressive half-season at Atletico after his arrival, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in 24 appearances across all competitions for the LaLiga side.
