The Air Wing deployment is part of the broader security arrangements for the election, with the police deploying about 15,000 personnel across Osun.

The Commissioner of Police in charge of the election, Samuel Etaifo Erale, had said the Police Air Wing, intelligence and tactical units had also been deployed, alongside anti-bomb experts.

The security operation is aimed at providing aerial surveillance and rapid response capabilities as voters, electoral officials and political stakeholders participate in the exercise.

President Bola Tinubu had directed the police and other security agencies to provide maximum protection for voters and electoral officials, while urging stakeholders to shun violence.

The police have also imposed restrictions on movement across the state as part of measures to ensure a peaceful and orderly election.

With the Air Wing now active alongside ground personnel and other security formations, the police have reiterated their commitment to a safe and secure electoral process.
