JAMB Extends Deadline For Acceptance Of Old Admission Offers To September 30

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from 2021 to accept or reject the offers.

The board announced on Saturday, that the deadline, initially fixed for August 31, has now been extended to September 30, 2026.

JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, said the extension represents the final opportunity for affected candidates to regularise their admission status.

The board warned that there would be no further extension after the September 30 deadline.

According to JAMB, any admission offer that remains neither accepted nor rejected by the deadline will automatically be reverted to “not admitted” in its records.

The board urged candidates with outstanding admission offers, including regular and centralised university information admission offers, to take the necessary action before the deadline.

Candidates who accept their admission offers will be able to proceed with the printing and collection of their admission letters.

JAMB also advised candidates who no longer intend to take up previous admission offers to formally reject them through their respective dashboards to enable the board update their records.

The examination body said candidates already studying at another institution or pursuing a different programme could also regularise their admission records where necessary.

It explained that candidates who received previous admission offers but are currently enrolled in different programmes could accept the outstanding offer and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion.

Similarly, candidates pursuing a second degree while holding an earlier unaccepted admission offer can reject the old offer without affecting their current studies.

JAMB further assured candidates who have secured admission during the ongoing 2026 admission exercise that rejecting an earlier outstanding offer would not affect their new admission.

The board said the exercise forms part of efforts to clean up the national admission database and ensure that its records accurately reflect the admission status of candidates and institutions.

JAMB urged all affected candidates to use the additional 30-day window to resolve their admission status, stressing that any offer left unattended after September 30 would be permanently recorded as “not admitted.”
