Heavy Rain, thunderstorms, Disrupt Spain, Argentina Preparations Few Hours To World Cup Final
Heavy rain and thunderstorms disrupted the final preparations of Spain and Argentina on Saturday ahead of their highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup final scheduled for Sunday in New Jersey, United States.
Spain was forced to cancel its planned training session at the Melanie Lane Training Ground after severe weather swept across the region. The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) said the decision was taken in line with United States safety protocols designed to protect players and officials during extreme weather conditions.
Argentina also experienced delays, with the reigning world champions beginning their final training session in Morristown, New Jersey, 45 minutes later than originally scheduled due to the adverse weather.
The National Weather Service had earlier issued warnings for severe thunderstorms and flash flooding across the New York and New Jersey metropolitan areas, cautioning residents and visitors about potentially dangerous conditions.
