Diddy May Walk Free As Trump Weighs Pardon
United States President Donald Trump is reportedly considering granting a presidential pardon to music executive Sean “P. Diddy” Combs as part of a broader clemency plan linked to America’s 250th Independence anniversary.
According to The Independent, the plan, described as “250 pardons for 250 years,” could see the White House issue a large number of pardons during the Independence Day celebrations.
NEWSNGR understands that Trump is also considering possible relief for Prakazrel “Pras” Michel of the hip-hop group The Fugees, who is serving a prison sentence for foreign lobbying offences.
Combs is currently in a federal prison in New Jersey after being convicted of prostitution-related crimes.
He has appealed both his conviction and sentence.
Michel is also challenging his conviction in court.
Although fresh reports claim Combs is being considered for clemency, the White House pointed to comments Trump made earlier this year in which he denied planning to pardon the music mogul.
In January, Trump said he was not considering such a move despite claiming Combs had written to him seeking a pardon.
Trump and Combs were once acquainted through social and business circles in New York before Trump entered politics.
The president has previously said they had not spoken for several years and that their relationship ended after he launched his political career.
On Friday, Trump announced that he had signed six pardons for people he claimed had been unfairly treated under former President Joe Biden’s administration over vehicle-related offences.
He has repeatedly described such cases as unfair, even though they involved violations of environmental regulations under the Clean Air Act.
