“When you are…” — Man advises on choosing a spouse

A man has sparked conversations on social media after sharing relationship advice that many users described as a reminder of what truly matters in marriage.

In a viral video circulating online, the man urged people seeking long-term partners to prioritise kindness over other qualities, arguing that compassion becomes most valuable during difficult times.

‘Choose a kind person’

According to him, relationships are tested during moments of conflict and hardship, and a kind partner is less likely to intentionally inflict emotional pain.

“When you are ready to settle down, choose a kind person,” he said.

He added that even when things are going wrong or one partner is at fault, a kind-hearted person remains careful with their words and actions.

“Even when the house is falling apart, they still know not to do things that is going to hurt you. Even when it’s your fault, choose a kind person,” he stated.

Social media users agree

The video quickly gained attention online, with many users sharing personal experiences and supporting the message.

A user identified as Ugochukwu wrote: “Be a kind person rather, if you are not kind as a person and you meet a kind person you will still ruin everything.”

Another user, Chuks, said kindness is a quality often overlooked in relationships.

“Many men would not relate because they always focus on the mundane things about women. A blessed man is the one who married a kind woman. Not the one that married rich or endowed woman. I speak from experience,” he wrote.
