Adamawa Government Relaxes Curfew in Lamurde as Security

The Adamawa state government has relaxed the curfew imposed on Lamurde local government council following an improvement in the security situation after weeks of unrest.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri announced that the revised curfew takes immediate effect and will now run daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. until further notice.

The governor said the decision followed a review of the security situation, which indicated a gradual return to normalcy in the area.

He commended residents of Lamurde for their cooperation with security agencies, describing their support as instrumental to the restoration of peace.

According to Fintiri, the improved security reflects the effectiveness of the government’s measures to contain the crisis and restore order.

Despite the relaxation, the governor warned that the state government would not tolerate any renewed breach of the peace. He urged residents to sustain the prevailing calm and avoid actions capable of undermining the progress achieved.

Fintiri also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring lasting peace in Lamurde and ensuring the protection of lives and property across Adamawa state.

He directed security agencies to maintain a strong presence in the area to enforce law and order, while advising residents to remain law-abiding.

The governor further called on community leaders, traditional rulers, youth and women groups, and other stakeholders to promote dialogue, uphold the rule of law, and work collectively to preserve peace and stability in Lamurde and across the state.

The curfew was initially imposed following a prolonged crisis in the local government area.
