I Feel Sorry For Those Peter Obi Deceived Into Spending Money On NDC – Rochas

Nigerian businessman and social media commentator, Uche Rochas, has claimed that the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, will not be on the ballot in the 2027 general election.

NEWSNGR reports that Rochas made the claim on Saturday while reacting to the controversy trailing a recent Federal High Court ruling on the registration of the NDC as a political party.

The ruling has sparked reactions among opposition figures and Obi supporters, who fear the development may affect the party’s participation in the next general election.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja had on Friday set aside its earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission to register the NDC as a political party.

Justice Isah Dashen, who delivered the ruling, held that the earlier judgment adversely affected the rights of the Peace Movement Party, which was not joined as a party in the suit.

The PMP had claimed ownership of the logo being used by the NDC, a development the court said ought to have been considered before the earlier order was made.

The decision has since generated backlash, with some opposition parties accusing the President Bola Tinubu-led administration of plotting to weaken opposition platforms ahead of the 2027 elections.

Supporters of Obi have also expressed concern over what they described as an alleged plot to deregister the NDC, the party expected to field him in the presidential election.

The controversy has intensified political debate over the future of the party and whether the court ruling could affect its chances of participating in the 2027 polls.

Reacting in a post on his 𝕏 handle on Saturday, Rochas claimed that Obi would not participate in the election.

He wrote, “Peter Obi will not be on any ballot in the 2027 general election. We will certainly miss him, and the noise.

“I also feel sorry for those he deceived into spending their time and money on the NDC. Now, there will be no refunds.”

The NDC and Obi had yet to officially respond to Rochas’ claim as of the time of filing this report.
