UK-based man offers elder brother Keke business opportunity, family accuses him of wanting to ‘enslave’ him

A Nigerian man has sparked a debate online after revealing how his friend in the UK plans to help his elder brother in Nigeria start a Keke business.
The man, identified as @AnyanwuMalachy on X, said his friend wants to purchase a tricycle, popularly known as Keke, for his married elder brother, who has five children.
According to him, the intention is to provide the man with a means of earning a living and supporting his family.
UK-Based Man Sets Condition for Keke
However, the proposed assistance reportedly comes with a business arrangement that has divided members of the family.
@AnyanwuMalachy explained that his friend wants the terms of the arrangement documented in writing before handing over the Keke to his elder brother.
Under the proposed agreement, the elder brother would be expected to remit ₦100,000 every week from the proceeds of the business.
Family Members Accuse Him of Wanting to ‘Enslave’ Brother
The arrangement reportedly did not go down well with some family members, who contacted the UK-based man to question his decision.
According to @AnyanwuMalachy, some relatives accused his friend of trying to enslave his own elder brother despite presenting the Keke as an opportunity to help him.
The family members reportedly questioned why the man would impose a fixed weekly payment on his brother when he was supposedly offering him the tricycle to improve his financial situation.
‘It’s a Business’
However, the UK-based man reportedly defended the arrangement, insisting that his intention was not to exploit his brother.
According to @AnyanwuMalachy, his friend’s argument was straightforward.
He explained that the UK-based man sees the arrangement as a business investment rather than a free gift.
Man Seeks Opinion on Arrangement
Amid the disagreement, @AnyanwuMalachy said his friend wanted to know whether he had gone too far by attaching a weekly payment to the Keke he planned to provide for his elder brother.
He wrote:
“My guy in the UK a wants to buy a Keke for his elder brother in Nigeria.
The man is married with 5 kids, so my guy wants him to have something to hustle with.
But there’s a condition: they’ll put everything in writing, and his brother will remit #100k every week.
Now family members are calling my guy, asking if he wants to enslave his own elder brother because he wants to help him.
My guy’s argument is simple: “It’s a business. #100k weekly is the standard return for Keke drivers,”
My guy is asking me if he went too far.”
