El-Rufai Arrives Court For Continuation Of ICPC Trial

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Wednesday, arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the continuation of his trial over alleged financial misconduct.

NEWSNGR reports that El-Rufai arrived at the court premises at about 9:30 a.m. under security escort.

The former governor is facing charges filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission bordering on alleged abuse of office, financial impropriety and fraud during his tenure as governor.

El-Rufai has denied all allegations, while the anti-graft agency insists it possesses evidence to support the charges.

The case was previously adjourned to June 24, 2026, after two co-defendants failed to appear before the court.

On April 14, 2026, the presiding judge, Justice Rilwan Aikawa, granted El-Rufai bail in the sum of ₦200 million.

The bail conditions included the provision of two sureties, one of whom must be a serving or retired civil servant on Grade Level 15, while the second must be a recognised traditional ruler.

The former governor subsequently approached the court seeking a variation of the bail conditions, arguing that some of the requirements were difficult to fulfil.

However, the court declined the application and retained the conditions earlier imposed.

At Wednesday’s proceedings, the two co-defendants who were absent at the previous sitting are expected to appear as the court resumes hearing on the substantive matter.

Meanwhile, journalists were barred from entering the courtroom to cover the proceedings, in line with the court’s established practice in the case.
