Two Nasarawa police officers detained over alleged N150,000 extortion

The officers were accused of detaining the travellers, who were returning from a wedding and heading to the airport for their return journey to Lagos State, before reportedly framing one of them and demanding ₦150,000 for his release.
The development followed the circulation of a viral video showing the armed officers involved in a heated confrontation with the travellers.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Nigeria Police Force Complaint Response Unit, CRU, confirmed that the incident had attracted the attention of the police authorities, prompting action against the officers involved.
The detention of the officers is expected to pave the way for further investigation into the allegations, including the circumstances surrounding the travellers’ detention and the reported demand for money.
