MILITARY, VIGILANTES ENGAGE OVER 100 SUSPECTED TERRORISTS IN MARIGA FOREST

SECURITY ALERT
Location: MANGORO, MARIGA LGA, NIGER STATE, NIGERIA | NOVEMBER 7, 2026 | 4:31 P.M. (WAT)
A joint operation involving Nigerian military personnel and local vigilantes is underway against suspected Lakurawa and Mahmuda terrorists in forest areas around Mangoro community in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State, following reports of a major armed movement in the area.
Intelligence reports received by TruthNigeria from residents of Mariga indicate that more than 100 suspected terrorists carrying AK-47 rifles were spotted travelling on motorcycles toward the forest.
According to the reports, local vigilantes first noticed the movement and alerted military authorities, who subsequently planned a joint operation to engage the armed group in the forest.
GUN BATTLE REPORTED AS JOINT FORCES MOVE AGAINST ARMED GROUP
Local vigilantes in Mangoro were reportedly engaged in a gun battle with the suspected terrorists as the joint security operation unfolded on Saturday afternoon.
The operation involves military personnel and local vigilantes working together to confront the armed men reportedly identified in the intelligence report as members of the Lakurawa and Mahmuda terrorist groups.
The reported strength of the armed group, estimated at more than 100 fighters, and the presence of AK-47 rifles have heightened concerns about the potential threat to Mangoro and surrounding communities.
The outcome of the engagement, including possible casualties, arrests, weapons recovered or the direction in which the armed men may retreat, was not immediately available to TruthNigeria.
