Troops kill several Lakurawa fighters in Sokoto ambush, recover four AK-47 rifles

Troops of 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), have ambushed Lakurawa terrorists at Ruwan Wuri in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing several fighters and recovering weapons, ammunition and other operational equipment.
In a statement, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North-West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, said troops recovered four AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 magazines, six motorcycles, radio communication equipment, ammunition and other military-related items during the operation.
The recovery of the weapons, motorcycles and communication equipment represents a significant disruption to the group’s operational capabilities, particularly its mobility and communication.
The operation underscores the continued efforts of troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt their movements and deny them access to the weapons and logistical support needed to sustain their activities.
The military’s sustained operations across Sokoto State and other parts of the North-West are aimed at curbing terrorist activities, protecting vulnerable communities and restoring lasting peace and security to the region.
Residents are encouraged to continue providing security agencies with credible and timely information to support ongoing operations against terrorist groups.
