Former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his administration’s ongoing investments in road infrastructure, airport redevelopment and mass transportation, declaring that sustained presidential backing remains critical to transforming Nigeria’s transport and logistics sector.

Daniel, who was the Special Guest of Honour and Chief Launcher at the 2026 National Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Nigeria, on Wednesday in Abuja, praised the Federal Government’s efforts to upgrade critical transport infrastructure and strengthen logistics connectivity across the country.

He cited various road projects and modernisation of bus terminals to aid land transportation, airport redevelopment initiatives to enhance air travel and inauguration of Deep Sea Port projects as key developments with the potential to improve mobility, facilitate trade and stimulate economic growth.

The former governor urged Nigerians to recognise the role of leadership in driving infrastructure development, noting that projects of such magnitude require political commitment and support at the highest level of government.

Daniel also paid tribute to Nigeria’s service chiefs, acknowledging their contributions to national security and the protection of critical transportation and logistics corridors.

A major highlight of the conference was the launch of CILT Nigeria’s 2025 conference proceedings, titled “Enhancing Logistics and Transport for Sustainable Blue Economy.”

The publication underscores the importance of efficient transport systems and logistics infrastructure in unlocking the economic potential of Nigeria’s maritime resources and advancing sustainable development.
