NPFL: Early favourites emerge in golden boot race
Abia Warriors striker, Emeka Obioma, has emerged as an early favourite for the Golden Boot award in this season’s Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.
Obioma, who was top scorer in the NPFL in the 2022/23 season, has registered six goals in nine league appearances for the Umuahia club in the current campaign.
The forward netted 16 times during that campaign to help his former club Enyimba lift the title.
He also finished among the league’s leading goalscorers last season, netting 11 times for Abia Warriors.
On his heels are Ranchers Bees’ Mohammed Zulkifilu and Doma United’s Sadiq Rilwan, who have scored five goals each.
Barau FC’s duo, Joseph Atule and Sugau Aliyu, as well as Kayode Oke of Bendel Insurance, have scored four goals apiece.
