NNL announces new date for 2026-27 kick-off

The Nigeria National League, NNL, has rescheduled the opening fixture of the 2026-27 season, DAILY POST reports.
The opening match between Heartland and Crown FC initially scheduled for Saturday, October 31 at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, will now hold on Sunday, November 1, at the same venue, with kick-off fixed for 4 pm.
Other matchday one fixtures will hold one week later.
The NNL Chief Operating Officer, Danlami Alanana, said that the adjustment was due to important state events scheduled for the original date.
Alanana said the NNL wants the host state to be adequately represented at the opening fixture to ensure a strong turnout and create an atmosphere befitting the occasion.
He apologised to both clubs and their supporters for the change and urged understanding, stressing that the decision is in the best interest of a successful start to the new season.
