The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is intensifying collaboration with telecom operators and infrastructure providers as part of efforts to improve service quality and widen network coverage across the country.

The move followed separate familiarisation visits to Airtel Nigeria and IHS Towers in Lagos on October 21, 2026.

The NCC team was led by its Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management, Ms. Rimini Makama, and included the President of the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), Engr. Gbenga Adebayo.

According to the Commission, the visits gave the regulator a chance to engage industry players on strengthening partnerships, resolving operational challenges and attracting more investment into telecom infrastructure.

At Airtel Nigeria’s headquarters, the delegation met with the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Dinesh Balsingh. Discussions centred on areas of cooperation between the regulator and the operator, with a focus on improving industry relations and telecom services.

The delegation later visited IHS Towers, where it held talks with the company’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kazeem Oladepo.

The engagements underscored the need for sustained dialogue among the NCC, operators and infrastructure providers to address challenges affecting the sector and extend dependable network coverage nationwide.

The outreach also reflects the Commission’s commitment to building productive relationships with industry stakeholders and fostering an environment that supports the long-term growth of Nigeria’s communications sector.

Through continued consultations, the NCC says it aims to encourage infrastructure expansion, strengthen cooperation across the telecom value chain, and improve the quality and reach of services available to Nigerians.
