“Men normalise asking for help” — Woman breaks down in tears after seeing late brother’s payslip

A woman has broken down in tears after seeing her late brother’s payslip, revealing that he had been struggling financially while keeping his challenges to himself.
In a viral video, the grieving woman urged men to speak up and seek help when facing financial difficulties, stressing that they should not feel compelled to handle every problem alone.
She explained that seeing her brother’s payslip made her realise how much he had been going through, despite maintaining a strong appearance and continuing to help others.
‘My brother was dying in silence’
Speaking emotionally in the video, the woman said she was heartbroken after discovering her late brother’s financial situation, which she said she had not fully understood while he was alive.
She said, “Some of you men, you need to ask for help. Please, normalise asking for help. Normalise speaking up, especially when you have people around you who can help you.
“I just saw my brother’s payslip today, and I realised that this man was dying in silence. He would still put on a strong face, and he still wanted to help others.
“I saw his payslip, and I was broken. Men, please, always ask for help. When you need help, please don’t try to be strong all the time. Don’t bottle everything up.”
The woman disclosed that her brother had been struggling while keeping his difficulties to himself, leaving those around him unaware of the extent of his challenges.
Family members did not know he was struggling
According to her, some family members had judged her brother over his finances without knowing what he was going through.
She expressed regret that they had questioned how he spent his money without realising the financial pressure he was facing.
“My brother was struggling. He was bottling everything up and putting on a brave face.
“Some of us were even judging him, asking, ‘What are you doing with your money?’ We did not know that this man was going through a lot.
“I just saw his payslip, and I am broken. How did he survive on this kind of salary? He had two children at the university. How did he do it?” she said.
Her account highlighted the difficulties her brother may have faced in trying to meet his financial responsibilities while keeping his struggles hidden from his family.
‘You are a man, but you are not God’
The woman further urged men to understand that being a man does not mean they must carry every burden alone or avoid asking others for assistance.
She encouraged those experiencing financial or personal difficulties to reach out to people they trust rather than remain silent out of fear of being judged or becoming a burden.
“You are a man, but you are not God. Please, ask for help when you need help. Don’t just bottle everything up. Ask for help.
“Normalise it. There are people around you who will still help you. Don’t think that you are stressing them or bothering them.
“Ask. Even if they don’t have much, there are people who really love you and care about you. They will contribute whatever little they can to help you,” she added.
