Troops Rescue 14 Kidnapped Victims, Arrest Three Terrorist Couriers In Katsina
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued 14 people who were kidnapped in Katsina State and arrested three suspected terrorist logistics couriers during separate operations in Faskari Local Government Area.
The rescued victims comprised 12 males and two females. According to the military, they were abducted from Anguwan Miko and Tafoki communities in Faskari.
The Media Information Officer of the operation, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed the development on Saturday.
Danja said troops of Sector 2 also intercepted three suspects travelling on a motorcycle in Faskari on September 24, 2026.
He explained that preliminary interrogation indicated that the suspects were carrying ₦2.7 million suspected to be ransom money, along with three mobile phones.
The money and phones were allegedly being transported for onward delivery to a terrorist kingpin through intermediaries in the area.
The three suspects and the recovered items have been taken into military custody for further investigation.
In another operation on September 25, troops acted on credible intelligence about the movement of terrorists in the area and established an ambush.
The troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee. During a subsequent search of the area, the soldiers recovered an AK-47 rifle, 30 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle.
The military also said that troops conducting a routine patrol later intercepted and rescued the 14 kidnapped victims.
According to the preliminary investigation, the victims had earlier been abducted from Anguwan Miko and Tafoki villages.
The terrorists reportedly abandoned the victims after sighting the advancing troops, allowing the soldiers to rescue them.
The victims were subsequently handed over to the Faskari Local Government authorities for further necessary action.
The Theatre Command said the operations demonstrated the commitment of Operation Fansan Yamma to protecting residents, rescuing people held captive by terrorists and restricting the activities of criminal elements across its area of operation.
The command commended the troops for their vigilance and prompt response, while urging residents to continue providing security agencies with credible information about suspicious movements and activities in their communities.
