TCN Makes Progress On Kainji–Birnin Kebbi 330kV Line Restoration

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says significant progress has been recorded in the ongoing rehabilitation of the 330kV Kainji–Birnin Kebbi Transmission Line following the collapse of Tower T367 in Yauri, Kebbi State.

In a statement on Wednesday, TCN said the collapsed tower had been completely dismantled and decommissioned, while the conductors and skywire had been properly aligned and prepared for the next phase of restoration.

The company added that an Emergency Restoration System (ERS) tower had been moved to the affected location and was ready for installation.

According to TCN, the installation will be followed by cable stringing and other associated works required to restore the affected section of the transmission line.

“Our engineers and technical personnel remain actively engaged at the site and are working hard to ensure a quick completion and restoration of the line,” the company said.

TCN said it appreciated the patience and understanding of electricity consumers and other stakeholders affected by the incident.

The company assured the public that all efforts were being made to restore the line and return bulk electricity transmission to normal as soon as possible.
